Morgan bring legal expertise and a personal committment to broadening access to the game

Scottish Golf Charitable Trust (SGCT) is delighted to welcome Christopher Morgan as a Trustee, joining the Board in May 2025. Christopher is an experienced non-executive director, with a background as a chartered company secretary and solicitor.

Christopher is currently a Member of the University Court at the University of the West of Scotland and a Non-Executive Director at Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, involved in the Grenfell Tower inquiry. Christopher has previously been a Non-Executive Director with River Clyde Homes, one of Scotland’s largest social housing providers, and The Back Up Trust, a charity supporting anyone with a spinal cord injury.

In 2019, Christopher suffered a spinal cord injury, but has since completed 3 marathons in his wheelchair (London twice and Chicago) raising money for SCI charities, including The Back Up Trust and Horatio’s Garden. Christopher plays golf as a para-golfer at Douglas Park Golf Club, Bearsden and also with the Phoenix Cup Golf Group, who support amateur golfers of all ages with physical, sensory, or learning disabilities.

Shonaig Macpherson, Chair of the SGCT, commented:

We are incredibly fortunate that Christopher has agreed to join us as Trustee. He brings vast experience as a Trustee in the third sector, alongside strong governance and legal oversight. And of course, he brings lived experience of engaging in golf as someone with a disability, which will be invaluable when as a Trust we are considering how we can best support people with disabilities or impairments wanting to access the sport.

Commenting on his appointment, Christopher Morgan added:

Promoting golf for everyone and breaking down barriers to the game, particularly to groups that may not automatically be attracted to the sport, is the principal reason I am very proud to join as a Trustee. As a para-golfer, I also hope I can bring additional insight to the Trust’s purpose and support for golfers and their carers.

Christopher is the eighth Trustee to join the organisation, alongside Chair Shonaig Macpherson, Laura Brady, (Worldwide Cancer Research), Brendan Dick (BT Scotland), Damien Gilmore (Natwest Group), Sean Walter (abrdn), Ross Aitken (Glasgow 2026) and Vic Skelton (Non-Executive Director, Scottish Golf).
